Applications are invited for a full-time fixed-term position at the Teaching Assistant Professor level, beginning July 2025.

The Department is looking for individuals with experience in, or strong potential for, teaching Statistics and Data Science at the undergraduate level, and for contributing to the academic program development and pedagogy of the Department. This is a non-tenure track position with an initial contract of three years that is subsequently considered for renewals, with the possibility of eventual promotions to higher ranks (Teaching Associate Professor, Teaching Professor) and longer-term contracts with an intended career trajectory.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide instruction for large-enrollment introductory service courses, utilizing appropriate technology enhancements and pedagogy techniques, but with opportunities to teach and potentially design upper-level courses as well. The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses over a two-semester academic year. The position will also be required to provide advising and mentoring for undergraduate students majoring in Statistics and Analytics. Additionally, the position must maintain active involvement and engage in teamwork within the department by serving on departmental committees and supporting departmental initiatives and other projects as they arise. Supplemental summer teaching assignments are generally available for those interested, for additional compensation.

Candidates with a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

Review of applications will begin on December 8, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.

Applications only accepted through this posting: https://unc.peopleadmin.com/postings/289002
