This event will provide the opportunity for current STOR graduate students to hear more about what is expected of them over the life of their program, what skills they should be trying to develop, ideas they should be thinking about, and the kinds of habits they should develop to become successful researchers. Faculty members will also talk about other aspects of being a professor, like writing papers, advising students, editing journals, organizing conferences, and other professional service while maintaining work life balance. Finally, hear about how the faculty views our department, statistics programs in general, and even the future of the field of statistics and operations research.
All STOR graduate students are encouraged to attend, but this event may be of interest to graduate students in other departments, or undergraduates interested in going to graduate school. Students who have specific questions to ask professors should send those questions to Benjy Leinwand.
Refreshments will be served at 3:00pm in the 3rd floor lounge of Hanes Hall
