Emergent Phenomena in Complex Networks: Epidemics on Complex Networks & Co-evolutionary Network Models

The emergent phenomenon, which is a macroscopic structured phenomenon that seems to result from microscopic interactions, has been widely observed in biology, neuroscience, sociology, etc. In this talk we investigate two examples of the emergent phenomena arising in stochastic processes on complex networks: (i) epidemic models on complex networks and (ii) co-evolutionary network models, where we focus on the general class of Random-surfer Web-graph model. We are interested in understanding how the underlying network structure affects the dynamics of the stochastic process, as well as how the network structure is influenced by the co-evolving process.
