The Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an opening for a Teaching Assistant Professor position starting July 1, 2024. This is a non-tenure track position with an initial contract of three years that is subsequently considered for renewals, with the possibility of eventual promotions to higher ranks (Teaching Associate Professor, Teaching Professor) and longer-term contracts with an intended career trajectory.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide instruction for large-enrollment introductory service courses, utilizing appropriate technology enhancements and pedagogy techniques. The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses over a two-semester academic year. The position will also be required to provide advising and mentoring for undergraduate students majoring in Statistics and Analytics. Additionally, the position must maintain active involvement and engage in teamwork within the department by serving on departmental committees, supporting departmental initiatives and other departmental projects as they arise. Supplemental summer teaching assignments are generally available for those interested, for additional compensation.
